Heartsaver CPR/AED
Heartsaver CPR/AED teaches adult, child and infant CPR, how to relieve choking, and how to use an automated external defibrillator with confidence. It is written for people without a medical background — the language is plain, the practice is hands-on, and nobody is expected to arrive knowing anything.
This is the course most employers mean when they ask for a "CPR card". It satisfies the CPR/AED requirement for lifeguards, childcare licensing, coaching certifications and most workplace safety policies.
Heartsaver First Aid
Heartsaver First Aid covers the first minutes of an emergency: bleeding control, burns, broken bones, head and spine injuries, allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, seizures, diabetic emergencies, heat and cold injuries, and bites and stings.
Take it on its own, or combine it with CPR/AED in one sitting — the combined class is the usual choice for daycare staff and camp teams, and it works out cheaper than booking the two separately.

On-site Heartsaver training

Which class does a lifeguard need?
Most aquatic employers require Heartsaver CPR/AED at minimum, and many ask for First Aid as well — the combined CPR/AED + First Aid class covers both in one session. Check your employer's policy before booking.
What does daycare licensing require?
Childcare licensing in Delaware and Maryland generally requires current CPR and First Aid certification for staff. The combined Heartsaver CPR/AED + First Aid class is the usual route. Confirm the exact requirement with your licensing specialist.
How long does Heartsaver certification last?
AHA Heartsaver certification is valid for two years from completion.
Do I need medical experience?
No. Heartsaver is designed for people with no clinical background — lifeguards, teachers, parents, office staff. Everything is taught from scratch with hands-on practice.
Can we combine CPR/AED and First Aid in one day?
Yes, and it is the most popular option. The combined class is $110 per person individually, or $100 per person at the group on-site rate.
