What PALS covers
PALS is built around the systematic assessment of a sick child — recognising respiratory distress and shock early, before they become cardiac arrest. The course works through pediatric airway management, vascular access, rhythm disturbances and post-resuscitation care.
The emphasis is on the difference that matters: children rarely arrest from a primary cardiac cause, so the skill being taught is catching deterioration in time.
Skills session or blended learning?
The skills session is for providers who have completed the AHA HeartCode PALS online module and need the hands-on portion and case scenarios signed off.
Blended learning includes the AHA online module together with the in-person skills session.

Do I need BLS before PALS?
Yes. PALS assumes current BLS skills, including infant and child CPR, and those are assessed within the course.
What is the difference between the skills session and blended learning?
The $150 skills session is the in-person portion only and assumes you have completed the AHA HeartCode PALS online module. Blended learning at $350 includes both.
How long is PALS certification valid?
Two years from completion, in line with AHA policy.
Should I take PALS or ACLS?
ACLS covers adult cardiac emergencies; PALS covers infants and children. Providers who treat both populations — emergency departments, EMS, urgent care — commonly hold both.
Can you run PALS at our facility?
